What service do I choose?

The service option you choose depends on the size, formality and schedule of your event. Contact us to discuss your event, and we’ll help you figure out the best option.

Full Service

This service includes set up with chafing dishes, eco-friendly paper plates, silverware, napkins, event service and buffet cleanup. Bread and condiments are included based on your menu choices. Drinks are available for an additional charge.

Drop Off Service

We recommended this service for casual events with fewer than 60 people. We build your order with your specific needs in mind, including food, paper goods and drink details. Order what you need, and we’ll price it as economically as we can.

Pick-Up

Are you local, and like to save a few bucks? Grab your order in convenient, disposable pans at our restaurant. Recommended for bulk meat orders or events with less than 60 guests.

Delivery

Delivery is free within 10 miles of our location in Slater. A mileage fee is added to farther deliveries.

Tasting Appointment

For events with a minimum 100 people, schedule a tasting appointment to discuss menu and service options. Contact us for more details.

Alcohol service

Yes, we can provide beer and wine service at your event! B Fabulous Catering holds the required State of Iowa liquor license and insurance to legally serve beer, ciders, malt beverages and wine distributed by our vendors.

Bartenders from B Fabulous Catering are required to serve the alcohol at the event.
Bartenders are billed at an hourly rate based on the size of the event.

Host bar requirements:

  • Cost is $30 per hour per bartender. We recommend one bartender per 200 guests.
  • All alcohol is provided and dispensed by B Fabulous BBQ & Catering.
  • No alcohol may be provided or consumed from outside parties.
  • The host bar bills the client on consumption per drink.
  • Industry standards recommend 2.5 drinks per guest, and the host is required to pay half of the product ordered prior to the event. Final payment for actual consumption is due within 48 hours after the event.
  • Prices
    • House wine by the glass—$4.50
    • Champagne toast by the glass—$5 (plastic flute included)
    • Imported beers and ciders—$4
    • Domestic beers—$3.50
    • Soda and bottled water—$1
  • We purchase our beer from Doll Distribution, which distributes Budweiser products. A list of current inventory will be available at the time of the event. We will work with you to choose a variety of products your guests will enjoy.

We’ve been catering for nearly 10 years and have a reputation for superior service and quality. We were awarded for our wedding catering by The Knot and Wedding Wire, earned due to our multiple five-star reviews. Our food is smoked and hand-crafted in house and made fresh the day of your event.

What types of events do you cater?

We can cater all your events! Weddings, rehearsals, corporate events, business luncheons, graduations, church events, training classes, celebration of life receptions, birthdays, holidays and more!  If you are looking for all day catering options, please contact us to help plan meals and break snacks.

What size of events can you accommodate?

We cater for as few as 10 and as many as 1,000. We can service multiple-day events.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold a current Food Establishment License and a Class C Liquor License with Catering Privilege with the State of Iowa. Our General Liability insurance limits are 1 million occurrence and 2 million aggregate. Our alcohol insurance covers the service of beer and wine, not liquor. Our employees are all covered by workers compensation.

Menu

Do you provide tastings?

Yes! We offer tasting appointments for clients looking to book events for over 100 guests. This private meeting with Billy, who is our owner and cook, will include a selection of menu items of your choice. Tastings are free for two guests, and any additional guests run $10/person. Appointment times are limited, so please email us to secure your slot.

Can I choose my own menu?

Absolutely! Our buffet is completely customizable.

Are you able to address vegetarian, gluten-friendly and other special dietary needs?

Yes! Our menu provides vegetarian and vegan options and a wide variety of gluten-friendly dishes, and we can edit some recipes to meet various dietary needs. Please contact us to inquire about specific ingredients.

Reservation & Payment

How far in advance should I reserve my date?

We can accommodate multiple events in one day, but some dates fill quickly.  We understand that corporate events usually have a shorter lead time. If we’re available, we can provide corporate lunches with a 48-hour notice. We suggest reserving your date as soon as it is confirmed, especially if it’s a large event.

How much is the deposit, and when is my final headcount and balance due?

We do not ask for a deposit for corporate events.  Headcount numbers are due at about one week in advance, and final payment is due the day of the event. Many customers find paying ahead of the event to be most convenient, but we can also accomodate for checks to be sent after the event.

What forms of payment do you accept?

For your convenience, we are able to accept bank transfers and major credit cards. You’ll find a secure link when we email the invoice. We charge a 3.5% processing fee for all credit card purchases. Bank transfers, checks and cash do not incur this fee.

Other than food, are there additional charges I can expect?

When we send your first estimate or working invoice, you will see all charges specified clearly. Unlike so many in our industry, we do not charge a service fee. The additional fees that you can expect are mileage, credit card processing and sales tax. We offer free delivery within 10 miles of Slater.

Is gratuity included on the invoice?

We believe gratuity is something earned, not charged. We do not add an itemized gratuity to an invoice unless directed to do so by the customer. We do, however, graciously accept gratuity and pass it along to our hardworking staff.

Additional Services

Are you able to serve plated meals?

We are not equipped to offer a plated meal.  We can offer table cleanup with our buffet for an additional charge. Please contact us regarding any specific needs for your event.

Do you offer table set up, clean up and linens?

We don’t typically set up tables or bring tablecloths. If this service is needed, let us know. We do have these items available and try our best to accommodate all our customers. We always leave our service area/kitchen as we have found it. If additional cleanup is required, please inform us in advance.

Do you offer drop off service?

Yes. This is a great option for an open house, a small event or a casual gathering where a serviced buffet is not necessary.

Do you travel?

Yes. We have had the honor of traveling many places around the state of Iowa to cater events. We charge a reasonable mileage fee to cover our travel cost. There is no fee for events within 10 miles of Slater. We do not have a minimum cost for delivery, but please note that if the cost of travel exceeds the value of the event, we may decline.

Buffet Specifics

I would like to provide my own paper goods. Is there a discount for that?

Yes. If you would like to purchase your own paper products for your event, we will offer a per person discount on your invoice.

Do you have real plates and silverware available?

We do not, but we do have excellent quality, durable plastic plate options available. Please ask us about our black, white or cream plate upgrades. We can also provide silver table service, which looks like real silverware and is a great substitute. We have samples of these options in our restaurant, and you can see them at your tasting. Prices are charged per person.

When will you arrive for my event?

We want your food to be as fresh as possible!  We will arrive 15-30 minutes prior to your event, depending on the size.  If there are additional obstacles we may encounter, such as flights of stairs, a meeting or speaker, we need to know ahead of time to plan accordingly. Deanna will work closely with you to plan the best time to arrive, where to park, what door to come in and where to set up. These details provided ahead of time will help everything go smoothly for your event.

Do you provide servers? How many?

Yes, we do provide servers for your buffet. We base the number of servers on the size of the buffet and the number of guests. We average one server per 100 guests. With added services such as alcohol and plate clearing, we provide additional servers.

How long will our buffet be set up?

We plan for a typical buffet to be set up for about 15 minutes after the guests have served themselves. This allows time for guests to have another serving, if available. If you require the buffet to be available for a longer amount of time, an additional fee is charged.

  • You folks did a lunch for our company for the third time. IT WAS AWESOME! I grew up on homegrown smoked meats. We had our own smokehouse . I never thought I would ever get that taste again . You folks found it. I have had BBQ and smoked meats , from all over the U S ,but you have the taste I grew up with . Don’t care how you do it,don’t care what goes in it.
